AQUATIC PET REHOMING EVENT AT MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Do you have a pet that you are no longer able to care for? Don’t release it – rehome it! Release often results in undue harm to the pet and is never the right choice. Rehoming unwanted pets prevents non-native and prohibited species from being released into Montana’s waterways and negatively impacting our native species. Invasive Species Action Network is hosting an Aquatic Pet Rehoming Event with Montana WILD on Saturday, September 27th in the auditorium. Pet fish, turtles, frogs, and aquatic plants will be accepted for rehoming. Non-aquatic, venomous, or waterfowl species will not be accepted at this event.

Registration is highly encouraged, but walk-in pet surrenders will be accepted as resources allow. Learn more about prohibited and controlled species in Montana.

Bozeman, Montana

Do you have a pet you can no longer care for? Don’t Let It Loose! Pets that survive in the wild can become invasive, spreading disease and competing for resources with native wildlife.

Instead, mark your calendars, we’re bringing an Aquatic Pet Rehoming Event to Bozeman! Our fourth-ever Aquatic Pet Rehoming Event will be on Tuesday, April 28, at the Romney Oval on Montana State University’s campus, from 10:00am – 3:00pm. Find a map of the event location here. Walk-ins will be limited, so please register ahead of the event.

Our partner organizations will be accepting fish, turtles, frogs, aquatic plants, and other aquatic pets for rehoming. Non-aquatic species, venomous animals, and waterfowl will not be accepted. Members of the public will not be permitted to adopt surrendered animals at this event.

Pet fish, turtles, frogs, and aquatic plants will be accepted for rehoming. Non-aquatic, venomous, or waterfowl species will not be accepted at this event.

Missoula, Montana

The second aquatic pet rehoming event will be held on April 29, 2025 at the University of Montana, University Center from 10am – 3pm. If you have aquatic pets or plants that you can no longer care for, you can register to surrender pets at the event here. Non-aquatic, venomous, and waterfowl species will not be accepted at this event. Event attendance and pet surrender is free to all.

Never release unwanted pets into the wild. Rehome them instead!
